Court Reporting Services
About Court Reporting
The Court Reporting Department is responsible for making a verbatim record of proceedings held in the courthouse. Matters reported include all felony criminal matters, juvenile, mental health, and grand jury hearings. Please see our policy below regarding availability of an official reporter for civil, family law and probate matters. We provide a court reporter for certain hearings only.
If you would like to request a transcript, please complete the Transcript Request Form. Scan and e-mail the form to courtreporting@ventura.courts.ca.gov. You may also call in your request at (805) 289-8989. After a request is made, the court reporter will contact you and give an estimate of cost and an estimate of the amount of time necessary to prepare the transcript. Be sure to include a “Rush” on the form if you need the transcript expedited. There may be an additional cost to an expedited transcript.
If your matter was electronically recorded, you may purchase a copy of the recording from the Records Department (805) 289-8668. The Court Reporting Department does not transcribe electronic recordings unless they are sent from the Appeals Department for a pending appeal. You may contact any outside transcriptionist to transcribe an electronic hearing.
