Civil, Probate and Small Claims cases may be found in link below. Information that is not available in this system is only available through the Records Department of the Courthouse.
Please note: As mandated by the Administrative Office of the Courts, minute orders for Family Law cases or for Probate Guardianships or Probate Conservatorships are no longer available online.
The court began entering cases in the Family Law database on September 1, 1991. Any case filed after this date will be available in the system. There were also thousands of currently active cases that were entered into the system at that time, so some cases prior to this date would be available while others may not. Information that is not available in this system is only available through the Records Department of the Courthouse.
Please note: As mandated by the Administrative Office of the Courts, minute orders for Family Law cases or for Probate Guardianships or Probate Conservatorships are no longer available online.
Municipal Court cases began entering into the system as of January 1, 1989. No cases filed previous to this date are available in the database. Only current infractions and misdemeanors are available.
Superior Court cases started entering into the system in 1995 when the courts were combined. Due to the nature of Superior Court felony cases, a case filed prior to 1995 may be partially entered into the system or may not be entered at all.

The Ventura Superior Court does not send copies of court files electronically or by fax. In addition, please refer to Amended General Order No. 18.12.
Copies of sealed or confidential documents or case files may not be available without a court order.
There are two methods for obtaining copies of court records: in person or via mail.
In Person
For hard copy court files, go to the courthouse where the file is located. The Juvenile Justice Center houses Probate and Juvenile Court records; all other records are housed at the Ventura Records Department.
- If you do not know the case number, you can look it up on a public computer at one of the court locations listed above, or you may search for your case online at our Case Inquiry page.
- Provide court staff at the appropriate business office counter with the case number.
- A picture identification card must be presented to view case files.
- The clerk will pull up to 5 cases per request, per customer, per transaction.
- A non-party will be charged a records search fee (GC 70627(c)) for searches lasting longer than 10 minutes.
- A "search" is defined as the total time taken to search the system, print and/or locate the information, and provide it to the requester, whether it is one item or multiple items. Refer to the court's current fee schedule for the correct fee amount. This fee is for searches only. The time required to make copies is included in the copy fee.
- Order copies from the microfiche, microfilm, or file at 50¢ per page. A page is one side of a document.
- Due to limited space, many case files are stored off-site after a certain period and may require at least 2 court days to process. You will be contacted by court staff when your copy request has been completed or given a pick-up date at the time of your request. You must pay for the copies before they are made.
