Effective January 5, 2026, Judge Charmaine H. Buehner and all cases assigned to Department J4 of the Juvenile Justice Center in Oxnard will be transferred to Department 44 of the Hall of Justice at the Ventura County Superior Court, 800 South Victoria Avenue, Ventura, CA 93009. All cases will remain assigned to Judge Buehner for all purposes.

Parties and counsel should continue to make all appearances in Department J4 and identify Department J4 as the applicable department in case-related filing until January 5, 2026.

Counsel and parties are responsible for following the rules and procedures (including remote appearance procedures) for the applicable department. Prior to January 5, 2025, Department J4’s rules are available at: https://www.ventura.courts.ca.gov/J4.html. Effective January 5, Department 44’s rules will be available at: https://www.ventura.courts.ca.gov/assignments-vent.html.

Ventura Superior Court – Reminder to Request Court Interpreter

In order to meet the increased demand, and given the limited resources available, the Ventura Superior Court reminds court users that, if they need an interpreter for civil (including Small Claims and Unlawful Detainer), family law, probate and juvenile dependency cases, they must submit a written request for an interpreter in accordance with Local Rule 20.03. VN-250 Request for Interpreter [English][Español] must be submitted to the clerk’s office not later than two (2) court days before each hearing. If there are questions, please contact the Interpreter Office at (805) 289-8799 or at vcscinterpreting@ventura.courts.ca.gov.

Para satisfacer la mayor demanda, y en vista de los recursos limitados disponibles, el Tribunal Superior de Ventura les recuerda a los usuarios que, si necesitan un intérprete para casos civiles (incluyendo Reclamos Menores y Desalojo), casos de Derecho Familiar, Sucesiones y Derecho Minoril, deben presentar una solicitud por escrito de conformidad con la Norma Local 20.03. Dicho formulario VN-250 Solicitud para intérprete [English][Español] debe presentarse en la Oficialía de partes a más tardar dos (2) días hábiles antes de cada audiencia. Appointments are required for service at the Family Law Clerks’ Offices at the Hall of Justice (Ventura). Appointments are also required for Family Law and Civil Self-Help. (See below: “Schedule an Appointment”). No appointments are necessary for the Civil Clerk’s Office at the Hall of Justice (Ventura), Records & Exhibits, the Clerk’s Office at the Juvenile Courthouse (Oxnard), as well as the outside walk-up windows at the Hall of Justice and the East County Courthouse (Simi Valley) which are open for Criminal/Traffic and Collection Filings/Payments.
