To make an appointment with the Records and Exhibits Department, please visit the homepage and click the “Schedule an Appointment” button. Be sure that you schedule your appointment for the correct department. Appointments scheduled in the incorrect department are subject to cancellation. In accordance with the 2nd Amended Administrative Order 22.04, walk-in services are currently unavailable. An appointment is required. Customers are limited to one 20-minute appointment per day.

The Records Department in the Hall of Justice in Ventura maintains Civil, Family Law (divorce, legal separation, and child custody matters), Small Claims, Criminal (felony and misdemeanor), and Traffic cases.

The Records Department in the Juvenile Courthouse in Oxnard maintains Juvenile (delinquency and dependency), Probate, Guardianship, and Adoption cases.

Records office hours are by appointment only Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding holidays.

Telephone hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding holidays.

Viewing Files

Hall of Justice in Ventura: Cases may be viewed in Room 218 by appointment only. A current picture identification is required. The identification will be returned when the case file is returned to the Records clerk. Documents may not be removed from the case files. Case files may not be removed from the courthouse.

Juvenile Courthouse in Oxnard: Cases may be viewed in Room 122 by appointment only. You must be a party to the case, and current picture identification is required. The identification will be returned when the case file is returned to the Records clerk. Documents may not be removed from the case files. Case files may not be removed from the courthouse.

Taking photographs of court documents is not permitted.

Note: Some files may not be viewed without a court order.

Record Searches

Record search requests may be submitted in person, via e-mail, or in writing. Court staff will not process multiple search requests over the phone. In-person requests may be made by appointment only.

There is a $15 fee per search request with a maximum of 15 names per request. Fees may be paid with cash (when making in-person requests), checks, and credit cards (Visa or Mastercard). An additional credit card use fee is applied by the credit card companies.

Note: Include a self-addressed stamped envelope along with payment.

Public access computer terminals are available for use in the Records lobby at the Hall of Justice (Room 218), and the Juvenile Courthouse (Room 122). There is no fee to utilize these terminals, but an appointment is required.

Copies

Copies are $.50 per page. If you need your copies certified, there is a $40.00 fee in addition to the per page fee. A certified copy of a Final Judgment of Dissolution of Marriage (divorce) is $15.00 (no additional per page fee).
